Christine says "The opportunity to stand for election to the County Council is a very exciting one. A wealth of experience in other forms of local government has given me a passionate belief in the difference that it can make to the quality of life of residents and the business community.

Over 20 years as a Councillor, I chaired all of the major committees of Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC), was Leader of the Council for 5 years and its Chairman through the fascinating 2 years spanning the Millennium celebrations.

As MSDC’s representative at the Regional Assembly, I learned much about the wider world of local government, went on to chair the Regional Planning Committee and was appointed to the Environment Board of the Local Government Association, so also have experience of working, and representing local interests, at regional and national levels.

Originally trained as a Medical Social Worker, I have always had a deep commitment to the Health Service and was Chairman of the Mid Sussex NHS Trust (Princess Royal Hospital) from its creation in 1992 until the merger with Brighton in 2002.

Apart from my part-time commitment to the family business, I am a Parish Councillor and enjoy the pleasures of living in this beautiful county, as well as maintaining my family links with the Isle of Wight. My family play a huge part in my life and I am relishing a new role as Grandmother.''
